Jacob L. Zimmer
I am a professional photographer and event producer based in Louisville, KY.
With 20 years of professional event production experience having worked in all 50 states on jobs including conventions, seminars, fashion shows, concerts, song and dance shows and other live events; and five years as a professional photographer, I have the talent and experience to bring your project to life. Below is a little bit of personal career history.
I was a child actor who slowly moved backstage through my teens and adulthood. As a student at Walden Theatre and the Brown School in Louisville, I learned the value of dedication and creativity. While photography has been a hobby since high school where I learned to develop and print 35mm in a dark room, it took another twelve years before I started doing photography professionally. In the meantime, my education and career put me in positions of leadership and gave me the experience needed to run my own business.
In college, I studied telecommunications and journalism (on staff with the campus paper) but majored in religion and philosophy. My on campus job was as a "techie" for concerts and shows and during the summers I worked in the entertainment department at a local amusement park on the live song and dance shows. I ended up moving into a career doing audio, video and lighting production for live events including everything from corporate theatre to concerts.
The highlight of my career was producing the Lessons in Leadership Series for Rhyno Productions and Wyncom, Inc with best-selling authors and speakers. This work has taken me to all 50 States and every major North American City.
The tour job came to an end shortly after 9/11 and then I moved to Dallas where I was the Stage Manager for the Cowboy's Cheerleaders and worked with Miss Texas and Jessica Simpson. So I have been in "showbiz" working with actors, dancers, singers and models all my life.
In 2002 I relocated to New Orleans to be closer to family and finally began a career in journalism working for a fashion and entertainment magazine. I performed many roles from writing and editing to photography and graphics; and most importantly, selling advertising. I also worked for a modeling agency booking local models for national campaigns as well as local jobs. I still did film, television and other live event work on the side including several fashion shows. I guess you can figure out what happened next...
I packed a suitcase and headed to Louisville to ride out the storm. I really figured I'd be back in New Orleans in a week, but of course settled here. I continued in the industry opening a Louisville edition of the magazine. My story of evacuating from Katrina and expanding a formerly New Orleans based business here in Louisville was picked up by several local news outlets.
In an effort to find models for the magazine and a few fashion shows I was producing, I began networking as a photographer in the local modeling scene. Soon I was freelanceing for several clients, joined the staff of Lightspeed Photos and eventually opened my own studio. I have shot a wide variety of subjects from sports and other events to still life. My photos regularly appear in advertisements in local publications. With the new studio, I have expanded my work into portraits including families and children.
I am currently working as a photographer for the Voice-Tribune newspaper where my photos have been used in the Society section, the front page and for fashion layouts. Click

I continue to do a variety of jobs with models including photography, posing technique training, assistance in creating portfolios and preparing for auditions. I serve as an agent to paying clients only. If you are a model (or wish to become one) living in or visiting the Louisville area who is seeking to expand their portfolio and professional experience, I am available to provide training without the costs and deception that most local "agencies" are known for.
THANKS for visiting!
